Work in progress

I’m a visual artist based in Amsterdam. I work across photography, drawing, installation, and sculpture often starting with found materials or archival imagery. By recontextualizing these materials, I question how meaning, status, and value are made. Recurring themes in my work include appropriation, authorship, and value creation in an era where everything feels reproducible and ephemeral.

I studied at the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague (2005) and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam (2013).
My work been featured in (solo) exhibitions including FOAM, Amsterdam, Museum of the City of New York, New York, Daegu Photo Biennale, South Korea, Museum de Fundatie, Zwolle, De Nederlandsche Bank, UNSEEN Amsterdam, gallery tegenboschvanvreden, gallery Martin van Zomeren etc.
My work is included in several collections like FOAM, Museum Voorlinden, UMC, ABN AMRO, Servais Family collection, Hartwig Art foundation, Nederlandsche bank etc.

I am a member of the self publishing collective Dutch Independent Art Book Publishers and a tutor at the photography department of the Royal Academy of Arts in the Hague.

Our cat Ari has lived in my studio since 2017. He was born in Amsterdam in 2009 and has spent his life in various apartments, staying with friends, and accompanying me on residencies. In 2017, Ari stayed at Maison van Doesburg in Meudon near Paris—the home of Theo van Doesburg, founder of De Stijl. In 2024, he lived in the house and studio of the artist Lucebert in Bergen, the Netherlands. The rest of the time, Ari resides in my studio. These photos document his life as a studio cat.

During my residency at the Cité des Arts in Paris in 2023 I've made various gravestone rubbings with graphite on paper at Père-Lachaise and cimetière de Montmartre. These rubbings did not find their final form yet.
